Description

Beautiful 1940 Mercury coupe. This is a fantastic show ready car and runs excellent. It has a 1952 Mercury 8BA flathead v8 bored .080 over, with Offenhauser 9:1 high compression heads, and an Offenhauser 4 barrel intake with a Holly carb. It runs and drives fantastic and isn't crazy fast but has a lot more get up and go than a stock flatty. It has radial tires with nice chrome wheels, Also this car stops very straight and easy with the Lincoln drum brakes. The car does have Fenton headers with twice pipes so sounds very good and not quite like a pissed off sewing machine like most do. It has been converted to a 12 volt system and has an MSD ignition, so starts right up even after it has been sitting parked for quite a while. The care rides great on the highway and has no problem hanging with modern traffic. It has the stock running gear with a 3.55 rear end. Still has the 3 speed manual trans but it has had a Hurst shifter installed. The interior has been completely redone and shows very nice. The original seat has been changed to leather but shows excellent, it is nice and tight and not all wrinkled. It has been fitted with a Banjo steering wheel and has some modern gauges tastefully installed, they certainly do not retract from the old school feel you get while driving this car. The exterior has been repainted in the factory Arcadia Green and the quality of the paint is fantastic. I have looked this car over a lot. It has had the floor pan replaced but they did do quite a nice job, I don't see any partial patch panels they replaced it entirely to keep from having a bunch of welds all over the place. The rest of the body I believe to be in excellent shape. I do not see any signs of bondo anywhere. I have searched and searched and I do not see a sign of mud any where on this car. I truly believe it must have been a very solid car before it was restored. The fenders have never had any work done to them as well. They are perfect and they do not make reproduction fenders for this car, they are original and I cannot stress how straight the body is on this. Would be a great car for someone who has always wanted something very cool and unique (Their are not near as many Mercury's around as there are Fords) and is a fraction of the price to most Fords around. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. We can arrange shipping anywhere in the us and if you are out of the country we can get it to the doc of choice to be transported to you.
